The concept of a watershed is central to the field of water resources. Watersheds are generally defined as "the area which contributes all of the water to a given location". To assess water resources impacts, plan for water resources protection, and design water resources projects, the current and future condition of the entire watershed must be considered. To do this, you must understand how to mathematically model the watershed in question and how this modeling varies considerably depending upon the specific watershed.
