Streams

Streams and, their larger cousins, rivers are open water systems which carry sediment from higher elevation areas to lower elevations. Streams provide habitat for fish and other aquatic organisms and convey storm water runoff from uplands to rivers, lakes, and oceans. Streams are regulated by various federal, state, and local government entities.
