Stormwater

Land development has increased stormwater runoff by decreasing natural areas which allow rainfall to infiltrate into the soil. Increased stormwater runoff can create damaging erosion and floods in many areas. Stormwater runoff from developed areas is also the major cause of nonpoint source pollution in rivers, streams, and lakes. Stormwater runoff is regulated by various federal, state, and local government entities. These regulations address erosion, pollution, and flooding.

Innovative planning supported by advanced computer modeling and appropriate system design can reduce the amount of polluted stormwater that flows into water bodies as well as control the magnitude of flood events. Our firm includes leaders in the field of stormwater management and design. We can provide stormwater solutions through our expertise in watershed modeling, analysis, and planning; pollutant treatment and removal; and detailed system design. We employ a variety of techniques which include traditional conveyance measures such as surface inlets and subsurface piping as well as alternative management measures such as wet swales, bioretention areas, vegetated channels, and constructed wetlands.
